Presentations
The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF), Oceana, The Pew Charitable Trusts and WWF are pleased to invite you
to participate in a roundtable discussion to explore concrete ways for the European seafood industry to engage with
the European Commission and third countries in effectively tackling illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Ideas resulting from the discussion will be shared with key Commission officials at a follow-up event. This roundtable
discussion follows the event held on October 6, 2015 with the Commission and representatives of third countries.
The meeting will include a light lunch. The agenda will contain:
1. A brief recap of the “carding” process and the opportunities for industry engagement
2. An overview of the steps needed nationally in third countries to tackle IUU fishing
3. Discussion on key concerns for industry in this process
4. Using examples, identification of further concrete areas for industry
engagement in support of the process and your needs
The event will be held under the Chatham House Rule. Participants are free to use the information received
without identifying speakers or their affiliation. This is to allow for an open exchange of views. The Coalition
will communicate outcomes of the event to participants, and a blog post may be published afterwards.
You are invited to confirm your attendance by Friday the 22nd April via email to: cfarthing@pewtrusts.org.
