Growth in blue bioeconomy nordic approaches in the european context

In 2015, the Nordic Fisheries and Aquaculture Cooperation, under the chairmanship of the Faroe Islands, is focusing on bio-economy and Blue Growth, with an emphasis on making better use of our valuable marine living resources and developing new products from marine biomass.

The seminar is intended as an opportunity to strengthen connections and share experiences between the Nordic region and EU policy makers and stakeholders who are also discussing both the policy and practice of Blue Growth and innovation based on renewable marine resources. The seminar therefore welcomes in particular representatives from EU Member States, the European Parliament, the European Commission and EU-based industry and NGO representatives.

One of the main events on the Nordic fisheries and aquaculture calendar in 2015 is the International Conference “Growth in Blue Bio-Economy”, to be held in Tórshavn on 2 and 3 June (see: www.norden2015.fo).

As a precursor to the June Conference, the Brussels seminar will be also hosted by the Minister of Fisheries of the Faroe Islands, Jacob Vestergaard, who chairs the Nordic Fisheries and Aquaculture Cooperation in 2015. The event is sponsored by the Nordic Council of Ministers and organized by the Faroese Ministry of Fisheries, in cooperation with the Mission of the Faroes to the EU and the European Bureau for Conservation and Development (EBCD).
