About Us
NAFO is an intergovernmental fisheries science and management organization that ensures the long-term conservation and sustainable use of the fishery resources in the Northwest Atlantic.
NAFO Fisheries
NAFO manages the fisheries outside the EEZs of the coastal States in the international waters of the Northwest Atlantic.
NAFO Science
NAFO scientists contribute to the assessment of fish and ecosystems by conducting scientific surveys and evaluating other relevant information.
NAFO Publications
NAFO produces a number of publications including the Journal of Northwest Atlantic Fishery Science (JNAFS), the NAFO Conservation and Enforcement Measures (CEM) and reports of all NAFO meetings.
NAFO Meetings
NAFO Contracting Parties, Constituent Bodies and Working Groups meet regularly throughout the year to prepare information that will be considered at the Annual Meeting.
NAFO Data
The NAFO Secretariat is a repository of information and meta-data related to the fishery, including catch statistics, scientific literature, fisheries management documentation and GIS (geographic information system) resources.
ICNAF
The International Commission for the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries was the predecessor of NAFO.
