Small Scale Fisheries in European Coastal Communities and Regions

The development of the Blue economy in Europe on local and regional level is one of the priority areas for the CoR Commission for natural resources. Recent discussions and CoR opinions related to Blue growth have highlighted the importance of small scale coastal fisheries for small fishing communities throughout Europe.

The round table discussion aims at a balanced, policy oriented discussion on the future of European small scale coastal fisheries and the policy options available to small fishing communities. The accent of the discussion will be placed on the local and the regional dimension of coastal fisheries.

The aim is to hold an event with more interaction that will identify what steps might be needed to assist local fishing communities in their transition to the future.
