Workshop on “Member States’ use of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive in their authorisation, permitting and licencing procedures“, organised by the European Commission with the support of Arcadis.
DG Environment currently has a contract running with Arcadis to understand, map, compare and analyse the use of licencing, authorisations and permitting for human activities in the marine environment at national level in relation to the MSFD and the attainment of GES by 2020. The aim of this workshop is to contribute to these findings, by looking specifically at a number of challenges Member States, economic operators and licencing authorities may encounter in the licencing and permitting processes. The workshop will focus on aspects related to the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, but will also look at synergies with the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive, the Environmental Impact Assessment Directive, and the Habitats Directive.
