Expert Meeting on the Aichi Biodiversity Target 6: Improving Progress Reporting and Facilitating Implementation

FEG has been actively involved in discussions regarding the implementation of AICHI Target 6, aiming at linking and improving the governance of  fisheries, and the  performance of associated conservation measures (e.g. in FAO, CBD, IUCN, RFMOs, RSOs, European parliament, and UNGA).

Regarding the implementation of AICHI Target 6, EBCD and FEG, in close collaboration with the CBD and FAO organized this FAO-CBD-FEG international expert meeting that took place at the FAO HQs in Rome from 9 to 11 February 2015.  The objective of the meeting was to explore further opportunities and feasible pathways for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN (FAO) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and their Parties and collaborators to jointly achieve better reporting towards responsible fisheries and specifically on the implementation of Aichi Biodiversity Target 6. The recommendations of the meeting were brought to the attention of CBD/SBSTTA and FAO/COFI, as previously agreed by both organizations.
