  • What is the main goal you would like to achieve as Co-Chair of the Circular Economy Working Group?
“Everything we consume does affect the environment. We need to be better at closing the cycle and using our resources more sustainably than today by increasing the reuse and recycling of the goods and products we use. We need to stimulate new existing innovations in closing the cycle and using our natural resources more efficiently than today. As Co-Chair of the Circular Economy Working Group I hope to raise this important issue between stakeholders and open up for dialogue to find solutions and opportunities to make EU a leader in circular economy.”

  • If you had to choose one specific issue that you think needs to be primarily tackled during this parliamentary term, what would it be? And why?
“As Co-Chair of the Circular Economy Working Group I believe that one key aspect of this is in the textile industry. The solution is not to stop the development but to find smart solutions and change to a responsible and sustainable production. I want to strike an extra hit for clothes and textiles, which is the a large source of climate emissions and contains toxic substances. There is a need to close the loop on textiles in order to reduce emissions from the industry and strengthen the collection requirements and producer responsibility for those who sell textiles on the EU internal market.”
