  • What is the main goal you would like to achieve as Co-Chair of the SDGs Working Group?
“As Co-Chair of the SDGs Working Group, my main goal is to put the SDGs in the heart of the European policymaking. The European Green Deal is an integral part of this Commission’s strategy to implement the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda, while the European Semester process of macroeconomic coordination is being adapted to integrate the SDGs. It is of great importance to support the process of putting sustainability and the well-being of citizens at the center of economic policy, leaving no one behind.”

  • If you had to choose one specific issue that you think needs to be primarily tackled during this parliamentary term, what would it be? And why?
“The empowerment and engagement of civil society and all stakeholders to take bottom-up action for implementing the European Green Deal and the SDGs should be at the forefront of our concerns during this Parliamentary Term. We are at a critical turning point where it is crucial for all stakeholders to join forces and act in a coordinated way to protect our planet and our future. The European Green Deal, as well as the UN Agenda 2030, show us the pathway towards this direction. Civil society and all stakeholders must be proactive and united in order to demand, monitor and support the implementation of policies, keeping the EC and all governmental bodies, from the national to the local level, accountable for their commitments.”
